The Visitor and Innovation Centre Joki is the largest conference centre in Turku and the only joint company showroom in the Nordic countries. The notorious Finnish prison was moved away from Kakolanmäki hill in 2007 and Kakola is still mainly a construction site. In autumn 2019, Kakola’s former church becomes a party and concert venue. In 2020, a bakery will open in the former sauna, while Kakola will reach new heights as spa and meeting facilities complete the service provision. At the same time, the former regional prison beside Kakola reopens as a 155-room hotel, also with restaurant and meeting facilities.

The Aitiopaikka banquet hall contains the building’s original protected stone wall. Situated on the Aura River, next to the Turku City Theatre, the large terrace provides a view of the river and the Independence Square.
